This is an 11"x14" original gouache painting on Arches coldpress watercolor paper.
I bought this fancy crystal bowl, and thought these satsuma mandarins looked so beautiful inside it. After fumbling around trying to find a proper subject for the foreground, my friend Christopher Greco suggested an opened orange. The contrast of the simple paper towel to the fancy bowl felt right.
